The brief desk

Build a brief your team can use.

Answer the questions below and this page will assemble a clear event brief in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server. Copy the result into your own document or print it for the next meeting.

Optional, but useful. A real constraint is often the most helpful line in a brief.

What happens after the brief

A brief is a starting point, not a booking form. The next conversation tests the purpose against the date, the budget and the room. If the purpose is clear, the options become easier to compare.

If you are still shaping the gathering, read the method. It sets out the eight decisions that the brief will eventually need to support.

What to leave out

Do not spend time on a venue shortlist before the audience and the programme are clear. A room that looks right for the photograph can be wrong for the way people need to work. The note on room setups explains why the layout should follow the behaviour.
