About the practice

Event Solutions works on the programme side of the gathering.

The practice sits between the programme and the room: what a gathering needs to say, who needs to be in the room, and what has to be true on the day for both to happen.

A practice built around the programme

Event Solutions plans and coordinates conferences, seminars and workshops, plus trade shows, corporate functions and product launches for professional and business communities. The work begins with the purpose of the gathering and ends with a record that the next team can use.

We work with the organising team rather than around it. That means bringing decisions into the open early, keeping the budget honest and making sure the room, the schedule and the message are built from the same brief.

The domain has carried event material for many years. This edition is a complete rebuild: new writing, new design and new illustrations, with the original purpose kept in view and none of the original wording or artwork reused.

Working principles

P / 01

Start with the reason

If the purpose cannot be said in one sentence, the programme is not ready to be designed.

P / 02

Make decisions visible

A decision that lives only in conversation becomes a risk in the week of the event.

P / 03

Respect the room

The venue is not a backdrop. It shapes how people move, listen and meet.

P / 04

Leave a clear record

The next organising team should inherit decisions, not mysteries.

What this site publishes

This site does not publish client names, attendance figures, awards, testimonials or partner logos. Those claims would need evidence that is not available here, so they are left out. What remains is the work: formats, method, audience notes and field notes.

The illustrations on this site were drawn for this edition. The room photographs are public domain images from Wikimedia Commons, credited in the project notes. The typefaces are Prata, Karla and Roboto, served by Google Fonts under their open licences.

Starting a brief

A first brief does not need to be long. It needs to say what the gathering is for, who it serves and what cannot move. The brief builder asks for those points and produces a document you can share with your team.

If you would rather read first, start with the method or the field notes.
